Step Five – The Call to Multiply
Spiritual formation doesn't end with personal
transformation. As Christ shapes His life within us, His
presence naturally begins to overflow into others' lives. The
disciple who abides in Jesus becomes a living witness,
quietly sharing the presence and love of Christ with the world. Spiritual
progress always moves from inward transformation to outward influence, or
there is no true evidence of progress.
It’s a great honor for a national leader to name someone as an ambassador
for their nation. It’s the greatest honor for the King of Glory to recognize and
name someone an ambassador of His Kingdom. Paul proudly made the
declaration:
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making
his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be
reconciled to God.”
Peter took it one step further, teaching that our words and deeds are
emissaries of God’s love to a lost world.
“Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves,
as one who serves by the strength that God supplies.”
It begins as believers grow and mature. Their words increasingly reflect
God’s heart, their service flows from God’s strength, and the way they live
Their lives points others toward Christ.
Jesus always intended for His children to be fruitful and able to reproduce,
for He came to start a worldwide spiritual revolution of freedom for all. He
often taught on the need to bear fruit and began training His first disciples to
multiply His ministry to others. He made His intentions for all of us
unmistakably clear when He commanded:
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Note: Praying The One Prayer with heartfelt intention every day will help
you to have a daily focus on the needs and lostness of others as you pray its
plural language of “our, us, and we.”
